Groom Advice From Wedding Planner Royalty: Preston Bailey
Preston Bailey knows weddings. In fact, when Donald and Melania Trump were planning their lavish nuptials, they called Preston Bailey. Luscious and opulent weddings are his specialty, so when he gave us some of his advice and ideas, we were listening.
First Things First
Preston encourages grooms to get involved, but sympathizes that it can be a trying experience. He warns: avoid being a groomzilla; good design is critical to the success of your event. Take these morsels of advice as just an illustration of ways you can personalize and ‘masculinize’ your wedding.
Relax and Celebrate
- Treat yourself to a cigar bar and/or custom martini bar at your reception.
- Serve comfort food like hot dogs, cinnamon-buns, and mashed potatoes at the after party.
Take Care of Some Business
- Get involved with the wedding details: find a band, choose the caterer, plan the menu, create the playlist for the reception, decide on the site for your destination wedding, etc. Not waiting for her to ask you is the key.
Treat Your People Well
- Always be patient with your bride, but be even more patient with her MOTHER!
- Choose custom cufflinks as a meaningful gift for your groomsmen.
Indulge
- Get a separate groom’s cake that focuses on taste not looks.
- Don’t neglect the men’s bathroom - it should have amenities as well!
