CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT?

• give compliments to the bridesmaids
• say some kind words about how lucky your buddy is to have such a wonderful new wife – you may choose to tell some funny stories about the groom and the early stages of his relationship with his new bride but be careful that they are in good taste (this is dangerous ground so choose your tales wisely)
• wish the new couple all the best for the future (insert a toast here)
• point out how lucky and grateful you are to have the job of best man
• toast the host and hostess, thank the guests for coming
• toast those who could not be there
• read any greetings from those who could not attend
• explain how the rest of the reception will run for the rest of the night (that is if you’re not too drunk from toasting by now)
